BUZZCOCKS with Special Guests MODERN ENGLISH

2024 sees Buzzcocks, hit New Zealand in glorious celebration of their essential punk hit history, which includes such crunchy delights as 'What Do I Get', 'Orgasm Addict', 'Promises', 'You Say You Don’t Love Me', 'I Don’t Mind' and of course the band’s UK top ten hit 'Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn’t Have Fallen In Love With)'.

Throughout their career, Buzzcocks methodology has remained constant: short, sharp slices of sublime guitar punk pop music, revered by a global army of fans and vitally influential to legions of bands coming up behind.

Christmas 1976. Manchester punk pioneers Buzzcocks, formed by Howard Devoto and Pete Shelley, have recorded and are just about to have phenomenal success with the groundbreaking 'Spiral Scratch' EP. Two months later, as the release starts to take off, Howard Devoto leaves. A quick reshuffle and Pete Shelley takes over lead vocals.

For decades Pete Shelley and Steve Diggle remained constant members of this iconic band. Their methodology: short, sharp slices of sublime guitar punk pop music, revered by a global army of fans and vitally influential to legions of bands coming up behind.

In 2018 the band signed their catalogue to Domino Records and announced a landmark performance of Singles Going Steady at the Royal Albert Hall for June 2019, with Buzzcocks enjoying well-deserved and high-profile recognition of their contribution to British culture.

On 6th December 2018, that bright prospect is thrown into darkness with Pete’s tragic and unexpected death. The Albert Hall show is recast as a tribute to Pete Shelley with remaining members Steve DiggleChris Remington and Danny Farrant, joined by original band members, ‘special guest’ vocalists and guitarists.

And here we are in 2024. Buzzcocks continue to perform their anthems with Steve Diggleon lead vocals/guitar, Chris Remington on bass, and Danny Farrant on drums.

Join Buzzcocks this November and witness the tour de force melody and menace of one of the UK’s original and definitive punk bands.

Special Guests MODERN ENGLISH.
Modern English
is a paragon of consistency. Formed in Colchester, Essex, England, the band have maintained their same core lineup since 1977: vocalist Robbie Grey, guitarist Gary McDowell, bassist Mick Conroy, and keyboardist Stephen Walker. In recent years, Modern English have become widely respected as post-punk innovators, thanks to younger generations discovering their catalog and new artists citing the band as an influence. This increased popularity has translated to sold-out tours performing their early albums and a main stage appearance at the 2023 Cruel World Festival in front of more than 25,000 people.
