The name BENEE continues to buzz around the world as the rising Auckland pop sensation announces that she will hit the Powerstation stage for an all ages show to celebrate the release of her debut EP, FIRE ON MARZZ, on Friday June 28.
The hometown show will be the finale to the 19 year-old’s first whirlwind tour to Europe, the UK and USA in June, coming hot off the heels of latest single Evil Spider.
That follow-up single to her 20 million streaming, NZ platinum hit Soaked has seen publications like Nylon join the chorus of BENEE fans around the world, saying “pretty sure I just found my new favorite thing”.
BENEE’s international success already includes selling out her first Australian tour in February with close to platinum sales of Soaked over the Tasman and a place on Triple J’s Hottest 100 of 2018.
Back home, the Sunday Star Times said Evil Spider sums up exactly why BENEE is “such a red hot prospect; lithe, light-as-air soul-pop, with lyrics at once romantic and menacing, it’s an insistent, irresistible ear-worm.”
Since her debut headline show at Neck of the Woods in August last year, BENEE has gone on to perform at Laneway Festival, Spark Arena with Lily Allen, and join the Aroha Nui line up, all the while receiving rave reviews for her “fun and charismatic” live persona.
The FIRE ON MARZZ EP released June 28 features Soaked, Evil Spider and four new songs.
Dunedin’s Jack Berry and dynamic duo, the Katayangi Twins, join BENEE for the All Ages celebration that night at the Powerstation.
New York has the Apollo Theatre, London has Brixton Academy, and Auckland has the Powerstation, an intimate venue at the bottom of the world that has punched above its weight since the mid-1980s, hosting some of the best and biggest acts on the planet.
