Shapeshifter return to Auckland’s live music institution The Powerstation on Friday 15th November to road-test new bangers before putting the final touches on their next LP.
As festival favourites for the past 20-odd years, it’s fair to say Shapeshifter’s fans have grown accustomed to experiencing their heavy soul-meets-drum n bass live show on a grand festival scale – save for the fortunate few who are lucky enough to catch the band in a rare club-sized performance like this one!
Famed for its superb acoustics and unrestricted sightlines, the Powerstation has hosted the band a number of times over the past decade – since their first trifecta of sold-out shows in 2010, Shapeshifter’s Powerstation shows have almost become an annual tradition.
Expect brand new joints and fan-favourite anthems alike, delivering Shapeshifter’s stadium-sized spectacle to a tight-knit crowd of rapturous punters.
Joining the bill are dance duo Lee Mvtthews and certified party-starters Sunshine Sound System.
Lee Mvtthews (AKA Graham Matthews and Tom Lee) have been turning out high-energy dance hits on the festival circuit since late 2013, gaining a reputation for stacking mega-bass drops with addictive popped-up melodies that earned them the title of George FM’s “Best Breakthrough Artist of 2018”.
Shapeshifter’s long-time tour mates Sunshine Sound System (AKA DJ Downtown Brown and MC KP) are ready to serve as masters of ceremonies, keeping the party lit from go to whoa with their tried and true blend of MC-ing, dancehall, reggae and hip hop.
